Recently, according to vietnamplus news, the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam and the Tobacco Control Fund of the Ministry of Health have organized a meeting in Hanoi on Thursday, November 23, aimed at improving the communication capabilities of tobacco harm prevention and control.
According to the Tobacco Control Fund, 8 million people die from smoking worldwide every year, of which about 1 million die from passive smoking. In Vietnam, the number is 40,000. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that global economic losses due to tobacco are as high as US$1.4 trillion each year. In Vietnam, the cost of combating the negative effects of tobacco amounts to approximately 1% of GDP.
In 2022, according to a tobacco use survey among adolescents aged 13 to 15, the vape use rate in this age group was 3.5%, a significant increase over three years compared with 2.6% in 2019.
Faced with the increasing number of young people using tobacco, especially heated tobacco, Dr. Nguyên Thi Thu Huong of the Tobacco Control Fund suggested not approving the heated tobacco pilot project to prevent the entry of vapes in the name of heated tobacco Vietnamese market.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Trung Nguyen, director of the poison control center at Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi, proposed an immediate ban on the circulation of vapes in Vietnam.
In recent years, global concern about the harm of tobacco has increased, and many countries have taken active measures to reduce smoking rates and the occurrence of tobacco-related diseases. As an important country in Southeast Asia, Vietnam is also actively exploring ways to prevent and control tobacco harm. Recently, Vietnam held a seminar on tobacco harm prevention and control, at which experts made calls on the pilot issue of heated tobacco.
Important topics at the Vietnam Tobacco Harm Prevention and Control Seminar
The Vietnam Tobacco Harm Prevention and Control Seminar is an important platform aimed at discussing how to reduce tobacco harm and formulate corresponding policies. One of the important topics at the meeting was the discussion on the heated tobacco pilot. Heated tobacco is a relatively new type of tobacco product that works by using heat rather than burning to release nicotine and other chemicals. However, experts have expressed concerns about the safety and potential harm of heated tobacco. They believe that although heated tobacco may reduce the production of some harmful substances compared with traditional cigarettes, there are still potential harms to health. At the seminar, experts unanimously called on the government to reject the heated tobacco pilot to protect public health.

Compared with traditional cigarettes, GUUTUU vapes use batteries to heat liquid and produce vapor for users to inhale, thus simulating the feeling and taste of smoking. Features of GUUTUU vapes include:
Healthy alternative: GUUTUU vapes do not burn tobacco, do not produce harmful substances such as tar and carbon monoxide, and have relatively few chemical substances that pose potential risks to users’ health.

Potential prospects of vapes in Vietnam
Although the development of vapes in the Vietnamese market is relatively new, it has already attracted a certain number of users. The Vietnamese government’s emphasis on tobacco harm prevention and control and experts’ concerns about heated tobacco pilots have brought opportunities for vapes in the Vietnamese market. As a healthier alternative, vapes have the potential to attract smokers who want to reduce their reliance on traditional cigarettes. In addition, GUUTUU vapes, as an vape brand with many years of experience, has always been committed to focusing on quality and user experience.
However, vapes still face some challenges in Vietnam. Currently, Vietnam has relatively strict regulations on vapes, including prohibiting sales to minors and using vapes in public places. In addition, public awareness and acceptance of vapes is still increasing. In the development process of the vape industry, reasonable supervision and public education will play a key role.
In conclusion:
A seminar on tobacco harm prevention and control held in Vietnam reminded people of the harms of tobacco and called on the government to reject the heated tobacco pilot. Although GUUTUU vapes are a relatively healthier alternative, the vape industry still faces regulatory and public awareness challenges in Vietnam. In the future, the government and industry need to work together to formulate scientific and reasonable regulatory policies and improve public awareness of vapes to protect public health and promote the sustainable development of the vape industry. Only on the basis of balancing health risks and innovative development can vapes play a positive role in the Vietnamese market.
