According to Indonesia Inside on November 1, the Indonesian vape Consumers Association (Akvindo) called on the government to re-evaluate its policy on unmarked packaging of vapes and ordinary tobacco.

The association’s chairman, Paido Siahaan, believes that the draft regulations on the management of tobacco and vape products being drafted by the Ministry of Health violate consumers’ rights to obtain clear and accurate product information. These products are formulated in accordance with Government Regulation No. 28 of 2024 on the Implementation Rules of Health Law No. 17 of 2023, which harms the rights of vape consumers.

Wiratna Eko Indra Putra, secretary of the Indonesian vape Alliance (AVI), explained that according to Consumer Protection Law No. 8 of 1999, the government has an obligation to guarantee citizens’ rights to obtain safe and clear product information.

“Merchants must provide complete information on the label, such as product name, specifications, net weight and production date, not just health warnings.”

He also stressed that the review of the policy should invite all relevant parties to participate, not just those who agree to the policy.

Wiratna warned that the implementation of the unmarked packaging policy would equate vapes with traditional tobacco, which may run counter to the government’s efforts to reduce the number of smokers in Indonesia.

Guutuu vape has always been committed to providing consumers with high-quality and safe vape products, and attaches importance to the rights and health of consumers. Amid this opposition, Paido Siahaan, chairman of the Indonesian vape Consumers Association, pointed out that the draft regulations on the management of tobacco and vape products drafted by the Ministry of Health deprive consumers of the right to obtain clear and accurate product information, which poses a threat to the rights and interests of vape consumers.

The Guutuu vape brand will continue to adhere to the principle of compliance management, pay attention to and support the protection of consumer rights. The brand will continue to provide consumers with transparent and safe vape products, and actively pay attention to the discussion and formulation of relevant policies to ensure that consumers’ rights are fully respected and protected. Guutuu vape is committed to safeguarding the rights and health of consumers, providing users with products that meet regulatory standards, and working with consumers to build a healthy vape market.
