According to Manila Bulletin on December 7, Tatsuya Shiga, head of Japan Tobacco’s (JT) Kansai factory, recently visited the company’s factory in the Philippines.
After visiting the Kansai factory in Kyoto, the head pointed out that the Malvar factory in Batangas Province, Philippines, which produces traditional cigarettes, is newer and equipped with modern equipment compared to the Kansai factory.
It is reported that the Kansai factory not only produces combustible cigarettes, but also 18 types of replacement packs for Ploom X. It is the only one of the three factories in Japan that manufactures heated tobacco products for the domestic market. When asked whether it is possible to produce Ploom cartridges in the Philippines in the future, the head said that if Ploom’s sales in the Philippines are large enough, it may be considered.
John Freda, general manager of Japan Tobacco International (JTI) Philippines, said the introduction of Ploom is another important milestone in the company’s expansion in the Philippine market. It is the first company outside of Japan to launch the brand in Asia, reflecting the company’s commitment to continue to expand the market.
Currently, JTI Philippines sells Ploom X Advanced devices in selected retail stores in the Greater Manila area and online.
Erika Viveiros, marketing director of JTI Philippines, said the launch of Ploom X Advanced is aimed at meeting the expanding demand for heated tobacco products in the country.
JT said that while sales of traditional cigarettes continue to decline, it expects the annual growth rate of heated tobacco products and reduced risk products (RRP) to remain at about 8% between 2022 and 2035. It will invest about 450 billion yen (US$3 billion) in the development of reduced risk products (RRP) between 2024 and 2026, especially the development of heated tobacco business driven by Ploom, to further expand its market.
In the global market, JT aims to expand the market scope of Ploom X to more than 40 countries by 2026, including the Philippines. The company said that JT has no plans to produce Ploom X elsewhere outside of Japan and Poland. According to JT’s medium-term growth forecast, by 2035, the sales of heated tobacco products such as Ploom X will exceed traditional cigarettes.
Although JTI Philippines did not disclose their local sales target for Ploom X, they said that last month’s product launch reflects their determination to “continue to develop business in the Philippines for the long term.”
As the demand for heated tobacco products and low-risk products grows, Guutuu vape should also pay attention to future trends and continuously improve its products to adapt to market changes.
In the context of fierce competition in the global market, Guutuu vape can learn from JT’s experience in market expansion and product innovation to provide consumers with more choices while maintaining its commitment to product quality and safety.
In summary, Guutuu vape will continue to be committed to providing high-quality vape products, protecting the health and rights of consumers, actively responding to market challenges, and continuously innovating and developing to become an vape brand trusted by consumers.
