According to Phapluat on August 8, Vietnam will propose to impose a special consumption tax on vapes in the draft amendment to the Special Consumption Tax Law.
According to the previous bill, Article 2 of the Special Consumption Tax Law of 2008 (amended by Article 1, Paragraph 1 of the Special Consumption Tax Amendment Law of 2014), the objects of taxation include cigarettes, cigars and other tobacco products used for smoking, sniffing, chewing, smelling and holding. The proposed draft stipulates that new tobacco products and their equipment, parts and components, and e-liquids are also included in the scope of taxation.
It is expected that at the 9th meeting in May 2025, the National Assembly of Vietnam will pass 12 laws and 01 resolutions.
The amendment to the Special Consumption Tax Law will be one of the 12 laws passed by the National Assembly in May 2025.
